# Email

> Give each AI coworker its own email address, control who it can email with, and manage the emails Vybe sends you

Every AI coworker has its own email address. You can forward it messages, CC it on threads, and ask it to send, reply to, or forward email for you. Everything it sends comes from its own address.

## The coworker's address

Vybe sets up the address when you create the coworker. It's based on the coworker's name, at `vybe.works`. For example, a coworker named Sue Porter gets `sue.porter@vybe.works`. If that address is taken, Vybe picks a variation.

You'll find the address:

* at the top of the coworker's **Email** section, with a copy button
* on **Overview → Information**, in the **Get in touch** card

### Change the address

1. Open the coworker's **Email** section.
2. Click the edit button next to the address. The **Change email address** dialog opens.
3. Enter the new username. Use letters and numbers, separated by single dots.
4. Leave the **Send existing emails received at…** switch on to bring the emails from the old address over to the new one.
5. Click **Save email address**.

## The Email section

Open the coworker and go to **Email**. It has three tabs:

* **Inbox**: emails the coworker received, with the replies it sent back. Open a thread to read it. You can also type a reply there, and it's sent from the coworker's address.
* **Sent**: emails the coworker sent.
* **Preferences**: who the coworker can email with, what it's allowed to do, and auto-reply.

## Who can email with the coworker

By default, a new coworker only emails with **you**, its creator. Emails from anyone else are ignored, and it can't send email to anyone else.

The same rule works in both directions. It controls who can email the coworker and who the coworker can email, including CC and BCC.

To change it:

1. Open the coworker's **Email → Preferences**.

2. Under **Email permissions**, set **Email with**:

   | Option | Who's allowed |
   | - | - |
   | **Anyone** | Any email address |
   | **Specific contacts only** | Only the addresses you list |
   | **Org members only** | Members of your Vybe organization |
   | **Org domain only** | Addresses at your organization's email domain |

3. To allow more people, add their addresses under **Additional email addresses** and click **Add**.

If the coworker is set to **Only people invited** or **Private** on **Overview → Sharing** (see [Sharing and access](https://docs.vybe.build/coworkers/sharing-and-access.md)), it can only email with people who have access to it. **Email with** then shows "People with access" (or "You only") and can't be changed here.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Anyone** lets any sender reach the coworker, and lets the coworker email any address. Use it only for coworkers meant to handle outside email, and pair it with clear instructions about what it may send.

The same **Email permissions** section sets what the coworker can do with email: **Full access**, **Read only**, **Custom** (pick individual actions), or **Off**.

## Auto-reply

By default, the coworker doesn't act on new email by itself. It reads its inbox when you ask it to. Turn on auto-reply to have it handle incoming email as it arrives.

1. Open the coworker's **Email → Preferences**.
2. Turn on **Auto-reply to incoming emails**: "Choose which emails to reply to and how to respond."
3. Pick a **Reply behavior**:
   * **Reply to questions, skip the rest**
   * **Acknowledge and ping me on Slack**
   * **Only reply to urgent emails**
   * **Custom instructions**, where you write your own in **Custom reply instructions**

Auto-reply only handles email from senders allowed by **Email with**. It also needs email access that allows replying. If access is **Read only**, you'll see "Email is read-only. Auto-reply can't send replies."

Each email the coworker handles is a run, and uses credits. See [Plans and credits](https://docs.vybe.build/getting-started/plans-and-credits.md).

## What the coworker can do with email

When you ask, a coworker can:

* **Send** a new email ("Sent email")
* **Reply** to an email in its inbox ("Replied to email")
* **Forward** an email ("Forwarded email")
* **Read** its inbox and threads ("Read inbox")

It always uses its own address, and only with people allowed by **Email with**.

> Email [jamie@acme.com](mailto:jamie@acme.com) a summary of today's call, and CC me.

> Check your inbox for anything from Acme this week and tell me what needs a reply.

> Forward the invoice from Northwind to [finance@acme.com](mailto:finance@acme.com).

You can also invite the coworker's address to calendar events so it joins and records your meetings. See [Meetings](https://docs.vybe.build/channels/meetings.md).

## Emails Vybe sends you

Vybe sends some emails of its own: getting-started tips, monthly usage reports, and emails from your coworkers, such as problem reports. To choose which ones you get, go to **Settings → Personal → Preferences** and find **Email Notifications**:

| Toggle | What it covers |
| - | - |
| **Onboarding** | "Tips and getting-started emails after you sign up" |
| **Usage reports** | "Monthly usage report emails for your organization" |
| **Agent emails** | "Nudges and updates your agents send you by email" |

Every one of these emails also has an unsubscribe link. Click it, then **Unsubscribe me**. You'll see "You're unsubscribed."

Sign-in links, invitations, and sharing emails are always sent. You can't unsubscribe from them.
